Ms. Britt is a cute American girl with an apple-pie voice. Appropriately enough her website is just as simple; a tribute to the early days of the internet, with noxious color scheme, messy text and very little else. If, like me, you're sick of sleek professionalism, its flashing buttons and air-brushed photos, you will find this a welcome return to simplicity. When you see the content, however, you will remember why, when it comes to girls on the internet, nobody ever loses points for being 'amateurish'.
Logging on really is like stepping back through time to the land before broadband. The site itself is divided (in pink comic sans) into picture galleries, videos, a webcam page and a journal.
The video section is surprisingly strong for a site that recently launched (January '08) and it has 26 videos on offer in a variety of formats and sizes. These are quite clearly made with an early version of Windows Movie Maker and are packing nauseating keyboard soundtracks to boot. That simplicity can also be a big plus; all of them convincingly suggest that they have been shot in an average American home with a cam-corder.
Picture galleries are added at a respectable rate of once a week and the site presently has 40 galleries. With a host of costumes (and even a naked piano playing session) Ms. Britt shows off her natural beauty in innumerable guises in these high-res sets. Web-cam shows for members are held once a week on Yahoo messenger and the journal section has some video updates but is only rarely updated.
If you're prepared to forego some of the extras and more frequent updates of a better-designed website, a real amateur experience will be your reward. Ms. Britt is a rare quality these days, a real example of the girl-next-door, with some great home-grown content. |
